(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 12 - "Greek authorities should investigate allegations of pushbacks and ill-treatment of migrants, ensure an enabling environment for NGOs and improve reception conditions," the Council of Europe (CoE) Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatovic said today. In a letter to to the Minister for Citizens' Protection, the Minister of Migration and Asylum, and the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy of Greece, Mijatovic stressed that those practices "prevent the persons who are returned at the border without individual identification or procedure from putting forward reasons why such a return would violate their rights, and from applying for protection."
