Coronavirus: 334.000+ cases in New Europe,13.865 died

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 22 MAG - A total of 334.218 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+4313 day-on-day), of which 176752 in Germany only, were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, May 21. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region is constantly slowing down in the last weeks, with the exception of Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine according to data updated as of May 18. Montenegro did not register any new case already in the past 15 days, according to the latest WHO data. The total number of fatalities in the region is 13.865 (+139), out of which 8147 registered in Germany, 1141 in Romania, 962 in Poland, 633 in Austria, 579 in Ukraine, 473 in Hungary, 304 in Czechia. Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (176752, +745 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (33371, +1863), Poland (19739, +471), Ukraine (19706, +476), Romania (17387, +196), Austria (16275, +18), Serbia (10833, +100), Czechia (8721, +74), Moldova (6553, +213), Hungary (3641, +43), Greece (2850, +10), Bosnia-Herzegovina (2334, +15), Bulgaria (2331, +39), Croatia (2234, +2), North Macedonia (1858, +19), Estonia (1794, +3), Lithuania (1577, +15), Slovakia (1496, +1), Slovenia (1468, +1), Latvia (1016, +4), Kosovo (989), Albania (969, +5) and Montenegro (324). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 41734 confirmed cases and 2032 deaths were registered as of May 21. In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 3516 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3759 in Italy, followed by Moldova (2444) and Germany (2126), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (274 per million) and Greece (265 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, Germany has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (98), followed by Moldova (87), Austria (71) and Romania (59), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 535 deaths per million inhabitants. Between May 11 and May 18, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+24,0%), Moldova (+23,0%), Ukraine (+19,0%) and Poland (+15,8%). In Serbia, Greece, Czechia, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%. Between May 4 and May 11, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+36,7%), Ukraine (+26,9%), Bulgaria (21,4%), Moldova (+19,6%), Poland (+16,8%), Romania (+16,7%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+13,0%), the lowest in Montenegro (+0,9%), Austria (+1,2%) and Slovenia (+1,3%). Also in Lithuania, Czechia, Croatia, Germany, Slovakia, Greece, Estonia and Kosovo the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%. (ANSA).
