Ukraine: Zelensky's adviser, we will dissolve Parliament

(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MAY 17 - President-elect Vladimir Zelensky will dissolve the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament), the president's adviser Dmitry Razumkov told Channel 1 + 1. ''Zelensky is going to dissolve the Rada: there are several reasons to justify this decision, namely the lack of a ruling coalition in parliament'', he added. ''In my opinion, there is no coalition because the two factions of the coalition do not have 226 deputies'', Razumkov said. The president of the Rada announced the dissolution of the parliamentary coalition 'Ukraine European' due to the exit of the Popular Front from the same coalition. The president then asked the deputies to begin consultations in order to form a new coalition. According to Ukrainian law, parliamentary groups can agree to create a new coalition within 30 days. The 'European Ukraine' coalition was established on November 27, 2014, and initially included the parliamentary factions of Petro Poroshenko's Block, the Popular Front, Samopomich, the Radical Party led by Oleh Lyashko and Batkivshchyna (totaling 302 deputies). Samopomich, the Radical Party and Batkivshchyna later withdrew from the coalition. Zelensky's team published a video calling for the dissolution of the Rada. During the electoral campaign, Zelensky mentioned the possibility of early parliamentary elections - otherwise scheduled for the end of October 2019. Zelensky's inauguration is scheduled for May 20th. According to the Ukrainian constitution, the president can dissolve the parliament and call for early elections no later than six months before the scheduled elections, ie no later than May 27. The current president of the Ukrainian parliament Andrey Parubiy has repeatedly said that there are no grounds for the dissolution of parliament. Interfax reported.(ANSA).
