EU launches negotiations to extend the "roam-like-at-home" policy to the Balkans

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 06 NOV - The European Commission has begun negotiations to integrate Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia into the EU's "Roam Like at Home" regime, as President Ursula von der Leyen announced during her visit to the Western Balkans last month. According to a statement from the EU executive, this will enable people travelling between the EU and the Western Balkans to make calls, send text messages, and use mobile data without incurring additional roaming charges. Bilateral negotiations with these partners have already begun. Once the agreements are finalised and the partners have fully complied with EU roaming regulations, the Commission will request that the Council extend the EU roaming area accordingly. (ANSA).
