(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 27 - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that early presidential elections could take place between late December and early February 2027. "It makes sense: if parliamentary elections are held in October, the presidential election could take place between late December and early January. If the parliamentary elections are held in November, then the presidential elections will definitely take place in January, or perhaps no later than early February," Vučić told Prva TV, a pro-government commercial broadcaster, as also reported by the independent broadcaster N1. Vučić has already announced his intention to run for prime minister in the upcoming early parliamentary elections—which he has, in principle, accepted—thereby taking up the challenge issued by the student movement and the parliamentary opposition, and to lead a Putin-inspired list called United Serbia. He has also announced that he will first resign as president of the Republic—since he cannot run for a third term—thereby making it necessary to hold early presidential elections. As Vučić has repeatedly stated, parliamentary and presidential elections require different timelines. (ANSA).
