(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JUL 23 - Tomorrow, Saturday, July 25, the summer exodus begins on the Autostrade Alto Adriatico network, marking the first of the summer's five "black alerts." A total of 182,000 vehicles are expected to pass through in 24 hours, with possible traffic jams and slowdowns on the A4 (Venice-Trieste) highway toward Trieste at the exits for beach resorts in the morning and afternoon, and at the Trieste Lisert exit (starting in the early afternoon); in the direction of Venice, again near the "beach toll plazas" in the morning and afternoon; and on the A34 (Villesse-Gorizia) at the Villesse exit toward Gorizia in the afternoon. Please note: Due to restrictions on the Slovenian H4 highway, the northbound section (Vertoiba-Razdrto) will be closed through November for construction work; only vehicles weighing less than 3.5 metric tons may use the alternate route via State Road 444. The figures for the first 15 days (July 6-21) show an increase at the Trieste-Lisert exit —where most of the traffic is being diverted due to the closure of the Slovenian route—by nearly 43,000 vehicles (almost 3,000 more per day) compared to the same period in 2025, half of which were light vehicles (+9.4% compared to 2025). Tomorrow, 24,000 vehicles could pass through the Trieste-Lisert toll plaza. For this reason, Autostrade Alto Adriatico has implemented several mitigation strategies to prevent long traffic jams. Across the entire network, 300 units will be in operation on each of the days with heavy travel. In addition, tomorrow nearly 17,000 vehicles are expected to exit the highway at Latisana, 11,000 at Cordignano, and 9,000 at San Donà di Piave. On Sunday, however, traffic conditions will be at "red alert" with possible slowdowns and traffic jams on the A4 highway. Approximately 20,000 vehicles are expected to enter at Lisert, and 14,000 at the Latisana toll plaza, as travelers return from their vacations. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on the roads from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 25th, and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, the 26th. (ANSA).
