(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 12 - The Falcone-Borsellino Programme for Central and Southeastern Europe, a legal diplomacy coordination initiative supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was launched today at the headquarters of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Trieste. The project, which aims to export the Italian model of excellence in combating organised crime, is being developed by the CEI to strengthen the capacity of justice and security institutions by transferring specialised expertise, exchanging best practices, and providing support for operational cooperation in combating organised crime, corruption, and new security threats. CEI Secretary General Franco Dal Mas framed the initiative within the broader context of regional cooperation and the European integration process, emphasising the CEI's role as a forum for dialogue and collaboration among EU Member States, candidate countries, and regional partners. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine sent representatives from their justice and interior ministries, prosecutors' offices, anti-corruption authorities, and police forces to the meeting.
