More young people on the eastern coast in 2025: Adriatic Sea Tourism Report

(ANSA) - VENICE, 11 GIU - In 2025, nautical tourism on the western Adriatic coast was driven by domestic demand, with Italian clients (65%) leading, followed by Germans (14%) and Austrians (8%). On the eastern side of the Adriatic, by contrast, although 64% of nautical facilities and 55% of available berths are located in Croatia, client origins were more diversified, with five countries — Croatia, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria — accounting for shares of transit clients ranging from 28% to 10%. The figures emerge from data released ahead of the new edition of the Adriatic Sea Tourism Report, the research report by Risposte Turismo that analyzes the flows, scale, nature, and directions of sea tourism movements ahead of the traveling event dedicated to sea tourism in the Adriatic, scheduled in Venice on June 25 and 26. According to the data, the western coast was more oriented toward families and couples, which accounted for more than 80% of total demand. In comparison, the eastern coast showed a higher presence of groups of friends (30.8%), more than double the figure for the Italian coast (13.4%). As for the demographic profile, although the 36-65 age group represented the core of demand on both shores in 2025 — 72.8% of the total on the Italian side and 62.7% on the Balkan side — the eastern Adriatic coast attracted a larger share of young people aged 18-35, at 18.5%, compared with 12.8% in Italy. Regarding the average daily spending of transit clients in marinas, Risposte Turismo researchers found that in 2025, more than 40% of the tourist ports examined reported daily spending between 50 and 99 euros. The analysis also highlighted higher average daily spending per client on the eastern coast, 61 euros compared with 42 euros recorded in Italian marinas. Other findings from the analysis include the Italian coast as the main hub for small vessels, with 54% under 10 meters in length, and a strong overall trend toward last-minute berth bookings, with 63% made in the final week or even on the day of arrival.
