Latvia's Prime Minister-designate Kulbergs unveiled his cabinet composition

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 26 - Andris Kulbergs, Latvia's Prime Minister-designate, announced today the composition of his cabinet, which is supported by the United List (LU), New Unity (NU), and National Alliance (AN), and will be put to a vote of confidence in the Riga Parliament on Thursday, May 28. Maris Kucinskis (appointed Finance Minister), Edvards Smiltens (Justice), and Egdars Tavars (Telecommunications and Regional Development) will represent the prime minister's party, Lu, in the new cabinet. NU, led by outgoing Prime Minister Evika Silina, will oversee the Foreign Affairs and Health ministries, with Baiba Braze and Hosam Abu Meri confirmed as heads. The same party will also control the ministries of defence and transportation, which will be held by Colonel Raivis Melnis and the Interior Minister of the Silina government, respectively. Rihards Kozlovskis will be represented in the new government by party leader Ilze Indrikssone in Education, Nauris Puntulis in Culture, Janis Dombrava in the Interior, and Janis Vitenbergs in Climate and Energy. Daiga Mierina will be confirmed as Speaker of Parliament by the Green and Farmers Union, Viktors Valaini as Economy Minister, and Reinis Uzulnieks as Welfare Minister, with Uldis Augulis assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture.
