(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 13 - On May 22nd, the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, will host a performance of "La Pittora," a new piece by Trieste-born composer Luisa Antoni, at the fourth Barocknacht concert. Spanish musician Alicia Saiz Abelleira will play "La Pittora" on the seven-string viola da gamba. The piece, which premiered last summer at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, is dedicated to Artemisia Gentileschi, a 17th-century artist who embodied female strength, talent, and independence. Luisa Antoni returns to the Mozarteum Baroque Festival for the second time, with one of her compositions included in the Barocknacht programme. Her debut performance was two years ago with "À la folie," a piece written for four violas da gamba. Antoni's La Pittora adds to the Voci ostinate collection of "sound portraits," a musical project dedicated to great female figures in history and art such as the Renaissance poet Gaspara Stampa, the famous 19th-century actress Adelaide Ristori, and the tormented French sculptor Camille Claudel.
