Protests to demand workers' rights in New Europe on Labor Day

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, MAY 1 - Protests to demand workers' rights, strikes, rallies against fascism, but also free servings of bean soups in parks. From Athens to Prague, a variety of initiatives have been promoted in New European cities to mark International Labor Day. In Skopje thousands of participants from various labor groups demanded the government for better working hours and salary increases. In Prague, a coalition of anti-authoritarian, queer-feminist, and environmental collectives organized a rally against fascism. In Athens public transport workers participate in the strikes taking place on May 1, demanding collective agreements with real wage increases, the recruitment of permanent staff to fill all vacancies, and the abolition of all anti-labor provisions. Ferries remain docked at Piraeus. In Zagreb Croatian workers and trade unions are celebrating Labor Day with walks and free servings of bean soups in Maksimir Park. (ANSA).
