(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 16 - Iran has warned Romania that making its military bases available to the US would be considered military aggression against the Islamic Republic. According to international media, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei warned of a "rapid political and legal response." "If Romania makes its bases available to the US, this would mean participating in military aggression against Iran," Baghaei stated during his weekly press conference, calling such an outcome "completely unacceptable under international law" and arguing that it would entail "international responsibility for the Romanian state" as well as "a stain on the history of relations between the two countries." In that case, Baghaei stated, "there will be an appropriate and timely response, both legally and politically." Romania has approved the US request to deploy aerial refuelling tankers, monitoring equipment, and satellite communications systems on its territory as part of Iran-related operations. (ANSA).
