Poland in shock, but moving forward with EU defense funds: Tusk

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 13 - "Poland is in shock since yesterday. We were prepared for this possibility because there were increasing indications that the president would decide to veto the EU defence investment programme (SAFE) for reasons that are unknown. My goal is to give Poland and the president the appropriate response to the failure to reach an agreement on the SAFE." This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as he opened the extraordinary government meeting that was called yesterday evening in response to President Karol Nawrocki's announcement that he would not sign the SAFE implementing law.
