Fvg region, Serbian community contributes to Fvg's development

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, FEB 16 - "The Serbian community represents a deeply rooted historical presence in Friuli Venezia Giulia and particularly in Trieste, an example of successful integration that results in growth for the territory." This was stated by Regional Councillor for Environmental Defense Fabio Scoccimarro during his visit to the Serbian Community of Trieste on the occasion of the anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Serbia. "Over the years, the Serbian community has been able to combine the maintenance of its cultural and religious traditions with a sense of belonging to the regional context," he remarked, "contributing concretely to the economic and social development of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Scoccimarro, reports a note, pointed out that the presence of a large number of Serbian citizens in the regional capital, a city historically open to the peoples and cultures of Central and Eastern Europe, confirms the city's multicultural profile. According to the councilor, "the community is an integral part of the social fabric and constitutes an added value for the entire community." Finally, Scoccimarro reiterated the Region's attention to the entities that contribute to consolidating intercultural dialogue and social cohesion, fundamental prerequisites for harmonious and shared development in Fvg. The event was attended, among others, by Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Trieste, Nemanja Sekicki, and President of the Serbian Orthodox Community of Trieste Zlatimir Selakovic. (ANSA).
