(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 24 GEN - The Eastern Star Award at the 37th edition of the Trieste Film Festival has been awarded to Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi. This prize is awarded annually to a cinema figure whose work has helped build a bridge between Eastern and Western Europe, embodying the values and spirit of the festival. Enyedi is expected to attend the screening of her film, Silent Friend, at the Politeama Rossetti this evening, following the festival's awards ceremony. "Ildikó Enyedi is one of the most original voices in contemporary Hungarian cinema. Since her debut, she has explored the role of women in society, blending science, history, art, and feminism to take us on a journey at the dawn of modernism," said Nicoletta Romeo, the festival's artistic director. The CEI Award (Central European Initiative), which recognizes the film that best interprets contemporary reality and promotes dialogue between cultures, was awarded to Electing Ms. Santa by Raisa Răzmeriță. This film, which will have its Italian premiere in Trieste and is competing in the documentary section, tells the story of Elena, a 42-year-old woman from a remote Moldovan village, who embarks on a journey to liberate herself from social and familial conventions. Lastly, the Cinema Warrior 2026 award goes to U Cinemittu, Italy's smallest cinema, featuring a twelve-seat screening room that has revitalized the village of Longone Sabino (Rieti). Among its creators is Roman actor Luca Marinelli. (ANSA).
