
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, NOV 12 - The training course "Challenges and Perspectives of Science Diplomacy in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe" (Challenges and Perspectives of Science Diplomacy in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe), to be held November 25-28, 2025, between Trieste and Gorizia, co-organized by InCE Executive Secretariat, Fvg Region and Dip. Political and Social Sciences (DISPES) University of Trieste, with support from Area Science Park and Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste-in collaboration with Sistema Scientifico e Innovazione del Fvg (SIS FVG) and EU Science Diplomacy Alliance (EUSDA). In 2025 UNESCO promoted the first Global Dialogue on Science Diplomacy; an EU Council Recommendation is being discussed that will encourage member states to develop a common "European Framework for Science Diplomacy" ("A European Framework for Science Diplomacy"): the InCE course aims to strengthen skills in science diplomacy, and consolidate international collaborations. For InCE Secretary General Franco Dal Mas, scientific diplomacy represents "an essential bridge between research and international relations, between politics and society, capable of promoting dialogue, cooperation and sustainable development in the countries of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe," and "Trieste confirms itself as a European capital of research and international scientific cooperation." In short, a "meeting platform where institutions, researchers, policy makers, and international practitioners meet in a spirit of openness and cooperation." Alessia Rosolen, regional councillor for labor, training, education, research, universities and family, pointed out that "Scientific research presents itself as a strategic player with which Fvg, and in particular Trieste, is further strengthening cooperation on international issues such as ecological transition, cybersecurity and health security."
