Go2025: MEPs visit Gorizia and Nova Gorica

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 27 - A three-member delegation from the European Parliament's Culture Committee will travel to Nova Gorica and Gorizia, the first European Capital of Culture (ECoC) shared by two cities and two countries, from October 27 to 29, the European Parliament announced. MEPs will gather at the EPICentre to learn about the inspiration for Nova Gorica and Gorizia's joint candidature, as well as current projects. On the second day, they will meet with Slovenian and Italian artists who will discuss their experiences crossing borders through cultural collaboration. In addition to institutional meetings, scheduled events include a visit to Kinoatelje - Gorizia, a renowned cross-border film and cultural institute, and Rafut Park, a historic garden with an extraordinary architectural and landscape heritage. For the first time an European Capital of Culture unites not only two cities but also two countries. Nova Gorica-Gorizia 2025 demonstrates how culture and cooperation overcome borders and transform shared history into shared progress," said the head of the delegation, Hannes Heide, on the eve of the visit.
