Schengen depends on external factors: Tajani

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 20 - The suspension of the Schengen Agreement at the border between Italy and Slovenia is "related to the international situation, in order to prevent terrorists from infiltrating people fleeing war zones." However, it does not cause "significant problems for the civilian population because it is carried out with great intelligence and discretion. I hope this suspension is lifted as soon as possible, but it is determined by external factors, not Italy's will." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in Portorož today. The Foreign Minister is attending the Med9 conference, and he commented about the reintroduction of checks at border crossings between Italy and Slovenia. (ANSA).
