Bosnia: Dodik confirms January 9 as possible referendum date

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 16 - Bosnian Serb nationalist leader Milorad Dodik has confirmed that the referendum, which was originally scheduled for October 25 and was intended to rally popular support and opposition to foreign interference in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Serb-majority entity, will now take place on a different date, most likely January 9, the entity's national holiday. "It is important for the Serb people to hold a major and historic referendum in which we can affirm that we have never accepted foreign intervention," Dodik told the Belgrade newspaper Vecernje Novosti today.
