Bosnia, PMP Industries inaugurates a new plant

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 29 - PMP Industries, an Italian group, has opened a new production facility and integrated foundry in Laktaši, Bosnian Serb entity (Republika Srpska) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company operates in the Balkan country since 2006. The €35 million investment marks a significant milestone in the group's global development strategy, which includes supply chain reorganisation. Primary processing in Bosnia will ensure that production continues at the Coseano (Udine) plant, which is expected to double in size by 2028 to meet demand for gearbox systems in the European and American markets. The Laktaši plant is Europe's only facility for cast iron components that can process raw materials and produce finished products. The integrated foundry's initial annual production capacity is 40,000 tonnes of cast iron, which can be increased to 80,000 tonnes with additional investment. Simest and Finest supported the investment with a total of €7 million in equity and financing. "The decision to invest in Republika Srpska was not a coincidence, but rather aims to strengthen a presence that has lasted two decades," and the investment will represent "a valuable tool for addressing the challenges of post-globalization," explained Luigino Pozzo, founder and president of PMP Industries.
