Moldova, 'Russian cyberattack on electoral commission'

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 26 - Moldova's electoral commission has come under cyberattack just days before the vote. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor confirmed the attack in an interview with Politico, accusing Russia of attempting to "destabilise democracy" in Moldova through a hybrid campaign planned "months in advance."" The vulnerability has been "resolved," Nistor assured, but fears remain high: the country goes to the polls on Sunday amid alleged Russian interference. President Maia Sandu has accused the Kremlin of spending "hundreds of millions" to sabotage the elections in front of the European Parliament. According to police, hackers used Wi-Fi routers to launch a DDoS attack on the Commission's servers. (ANSA).
