Political will for energy independence from Moscow: Latvia

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 24 - "Achieving energy independence from Russia requires political will. If it exists, alternative options become available," Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics said in an interview with Euronews. Rinkevics emphasised that, as recently as 2017, Latvia was entirely dependent on Russian energy sources, and that the willingness to change ensured the operation's rapid success. The Latvian politician then urged other European countries, particularly Hungary and Slovakia, to follow Riga's lead and break free from Moscow's energy dominance. (ANSA).
