Albania, Rama wins confidence vote amid chaos in Parliament

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 18 - Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's fourth consecutive government won parliament's confidence today in a snap session that was supposed to last 25 hours but ended in 25 minutes. The majority called for a vote after the centre-right opposition, led by Sali Berisha, objected to a video message from Diella, the virtual Minister for Artificial Intelligence, broadcast by Rama at the start of his speech presenting his government's programme. The opposition viewed the Socialists' decision to proceed immediately to a vote of confidence, without debate and without the prime minister presenting his government's objectives, as "an act of humiliation for parliament." Berisha convened his parliamentary group immediately: "We are facing an unprecedented situation, and we must respond with concrete actions," he emphasised. (ANSA).
