More agile funding for eastern border: Baltic states

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 17 - "The current geopolitical situation, particularly Russian drone violations of Polish airspace, demonstrates Ukraine's critical role in European security. This demonstrates that we must continue to support Ukraine while increasing pressure on Russia," said Artjoms Ursulskis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Latvian Foreign Ministry, at the EU General Affairs Council meeting in Brussels on Tuesday. Ursulskis also emphasised the importance of strengthening the EU's eastern border through faster funding and improved cooperation among European countries. Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Sigitas Mitkus made similar arguments, emphasising the importance of ensuring Ukraine's accession to the European Union by 2030 in order to strengthen Kiev's defence and Europe's overall security.
