Proud of Italy-Slovenia relations: Slovenian President

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 9 - Italian President Sergio Mattarella will pay a state visit to Slovenia on September 10 and 11, where he will be greeted by President Natasa Pirc Musar and meet with Prime Minister Robert Golob. The two heads of state will jointly inaugurate the Collegio dei Nobili in Koper, a recently renovated building that houses the Italian primary and secondary schools, followed by a visit to the Italian National Community headquarters. In an interview with ANSA, Pirc Musar stated that minority communities on both sides of the border "act as natural bridges between the two countries because they are historically rooted in the territory and culture." Their involvement in dialogue is a critical component of reconciliation, she underlined. Pirc Musar noted that the GO!2025 project, the first cross-border European Capital of Culture, was unimaginable twenty years ago and is now a symbol of all initiatives that "represent a great step forward in cooperation and strengthening relations, of which we can be proud both in Rome and in Ljubljana."
