EU asylum reform must be stricter: German minister

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 3 - Berlin is pushing for more "tightening" of the rules in the reform of the European asylum system. In a brief press briefing in the capital today, Alexander Dobrindt, the Merz government's Interior Minister, expressed this position. Regarding the reform that is currently underway, Dobrindt stated that it is "a very important step, and it is important for everyone to participate," but that it "must be further tightened." The minister stated that Germany will add "new elements" to the discussion in the coming weeks and months to achieve this goal. When asked for an example, he stated that procedures must be able to take place outside of European countries, in so-called "return hubs." (ANSA).
