(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 13 - In Greece, the battle to extinguish the multiple fires that broke out yesterday in various regions continues unabated, with 4,850 firefighters supported by 62 aircraft. Residents of dozens of settlements in the Peloponnese south of Patras, on the island of Chios in the northern Aegean, and north of Preveza in Epirus endured a difficult night, punctuated by repeated evacuation orders, as strong winds continued to fan the flames, according to Greek media. According to fire department spokesman Vasilis Vathrakogiannis, today promises to be a difficult day, as the risk of fires remains high in most regions. (ANSA).
