(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 11 - According to the German Federal Statistical Office, the number of overnight stays in Germany reached a new high in the first half of 2025, with 223.3 million, a 0.1% increase over the previous high set in the first half of 2024. According to the office, the primary reason for this increase is domestic tourism overnight stays. In June 2025, Germany recorded 50.5 million overnight stays, up 3.8% from the same period in 2024. According to the FSO, overnight stays by German citizens on vacation are also increasing, rising by 7.4% compared to 2024 to 42.8 million. Foreign guests' overnight stays, however, fell by 12.7% to 7.6 million. This latter figure is most likely due to the European Football Championship in Germany in June 2024, which drew an unusually large number of foreign tourists. (ANSA).
