(ANSA) - VILNIUS, AUG 2 - Lithuania's deputy defense ministers, Tomas Godliauskas and Orijana Masale, and their Polish counterpart, Cezary Tomczyk, discussed Friday the joint development of military mobility projects of strategic importance in order to improve troop movement in the region and strengthen NATO's defense capabilities on its eastern flank. They also discussed plans to build a common line of defense with the other two Baltic countries, the creation of a unified system for NATO fuel reserves and the development of military infrastructure that can be used by the armed forces of both countries. "Lithuania and Poland, together with the other Baltic countries, are putting all their efforts so that the jointly elaborated defense projects can enter among the priority works of the European Union," Godliauskas said. "Multi-year funding is essential for the security of the region and Europe." Special attention was assigned to managing fuel supply for NATO troops in the area. "The fuel supply chain was created in 1958 to supply NATO forces in possible times of crisis. It is important for us to have a fuel reserve system connected to Poland to efficiently and quickly ensure the supply of allied troops," Masale said. (ANSA).
