Belgrade advises Serbs against traveling to Croatia

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 30 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgrade has advised Serbian citizens to avoid visiting Croatia between August 1 and 10. In a recent statement, the ministry advised Serbs who may be in Croatia during this time to avoid gatherings and other social gatherings that could lead to ethnically motivated incidents. Several events and demonstrations are planned in Croatia between late July and early August to commemorate the country's 30th anniversary of independence, which was achieved in 1995 after a bloody armed conflict with Serbian separatists backed by regular Serbian troops in Belgrade. Over 250,000 Serbs were forced to flee their Croatian homes as a result of the war. A large military parade is planned for July 31st in Zagreb. (ANSA).
