Serbia highway blockade, 15 detentions and 249 complaints

(ANSA) - BELGRADO, JUL 26 - Fifteen people were detained in Serbia and subjected to judicial proceedings due to blockade of a section of the Milos Veliki highway implemented yesterday evening by several hundred anti-government protesters. As Police Chief Dragan Vasiljevic told public TV Rts today, 249 other demonstrators were criminally charged with endangering traffic safety and disobedience to public authority. The Balkan country has been traversed since last November by a protest movement led by students and supported by a section of the population who accuse the authorities of corruption and poor democracy and call for early elections.
