(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 17 - Kosovo is still at a stalemate over the election of the new parliament's speaker. Another attempt, the 48th, failed today, with the opposition again rejecting the ruling Vetevendosje (Self-Determination, nationalist left) party's proposal for a secret ballot. This proposal was introduced last May after the government's candidate for the presidency of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, was defeated in six consecutive elections for failing to receive the required 61 votes.
