(ANSA) - UDINE, 16 LUG - The Czech Republic will not participate in the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine, prime minister Petr Fiala told the website Publico.cz. However, the Czech Republic will continue to support Ukraine, particularly through its initiative to provide artillery ammunition. "The Czech Republic is focusing its efforts on continuing the ammunition initiative. For this reason, we do not intend to join new projects at this time," Fiala said. The Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine — which has been resisting Russian military aggression for four years — helped deliver 1.5 million rounds last year and is planned to continue through 2025. During his visit to Prague in May, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky praised the Czech program as highly effective. (ANSA).
