Protests in Serbia: 138 people detained overnight

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 16 LUG - Serbian police detained and identified 138 people overnight during fresh anti-government protests and road blockades in several locations. According to the Interior Ministry, three of those detained were taken to the police station for questioning, whereas four individuals are facing criminal charges. Authorities stated that by this morning, all blockades had been removed and traffic flow had returned to normal. The government and political leaders have unanimously condemned a loud demonstration staged late last night in Novi Sad by protesting students outside the home of Milos Vucevic, the former Prime Minister and current leader of the ruling SNS party. The demonstration was described as "shameful" and a form of "political terrorism." Further protests are expected throughout the day. (ANSA).
