(ANSA) - BERLIN, 14 LUG - Maja T., the activist imprisoned in Hungary, has ended their hunger strike, according to the German news agency DPA. Maja T., a non-binary person, faces up to 24 years in prison for injuries inflicted on far-right demonstrators during a protest in Budapest in February 2023. The activist had begun the hunger strike to protest the conditions of their imprisonment. The strike was seriously affecting their health. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul took an interest in the case, while noting that "Maja T. would also have faced criminal proceedings in Germany." However, on January 24, 2025, the German Constitutional Court criticized their extradition to Hungary. (ANSA).
