Crucial adoption of new sanctions against Moscow: Prague-Berlin

(ANSA) - PRAGUE, JUL 7 - During today's meeting in Prague, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky called the adoption of the 18th anti-Russian sanctions package crucial. The Czech Republic has long pushed for a proposal to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats in the Schengen area. Wadephul, asked by the Czech News Agency, said the proposal should be considered. The German minister said Europe is in dialogue with the United States on how to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin. Lipavsky thanked Germany for the German contribution to the Czech munitions initiative for Ukraine. Today the two ministers also signed the work program of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries for 2025-2027 and discussed how to secure additional funding for the Czech-German Future Fund, which was born out of the 1997 Czech-German Declaration and formalized in 2015, and has quickly become a key instrument of mutual rapprochement and joint programming.
