
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 16 - The decline in asylum applications in the EU continues: in March, 57,925 non-EU citizens applied for the first time, a net decrease of 23% from the previous year and 2% from February, according to an updated Eurostat bulletin. In the first three months of the year, the EU reviewed nearly 200,000 applications for international protection, making 198,570 first-instance decisions, which was consistent with the previous quarter (-1%) and up 7% from the same period in 2024. 33% of these were positive (66,315 people received some form of protection).
