The CEI was among the co-hosts of the International Conference “Higher Education Systems in the Mediterranean: Comparative Analysis and Development Opportunities”, organised by the University EMUNI on 12-13 June in Portorož, Slovenia.
Opened by Prof. Igor Papič, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Slovenia, and attended by representatives of 19 Mediterranean countries, the Conference highlighted the vital role of academic cooperation, research and innovation in front of the most pressing geopolitical challenges. These aspects, as well as the leading role played by Slovenia in this strategic area, including the current presidency of the MED9 group, were the subject of a keynote speech by Tanja Fajon, Slovene Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
In addition to joining the opening ceremony, the CEI moderated a dedicated Cross-Border Higher Education Dialogue, where its science diplomacy agenda, as well as multi-stakeholder and result-oriented approach to regional cooperation were thoroughly presented.
