(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 26 MAR - The Doblar Museum is being inaugurated in Slovenia. It is designed as a crossroads of various worlds—industrial heritage, the natural beauty of the river Isonzo/Soča, and contemporary themes. This initiative, led by the Isonzo Hydroelectric Plants of Nova Gorica (Seng) and Go!2025, takes place at the oldest still-operational hydroelectric plant on the Isonzo. The museum's exhibition traces the development of hydroelectric power in the Posočje region and aims to raise younger generations' awareness of the importance of renewable energy sources and responsible environmental management. The museum adopts a multifaceted approach. As curator Kaja Širok explains, "The exhibition chronologically retraces the first mentions of power plants and other industrial facilities along the Isonzo, with a particular focus on the creation of the Doblar hydroelectric plant, which was symbolically inaugurated in 1938 and began operations a year later. The exhibit highlights the significance and flow of the Isonzo River while emphasizing the sustainable use of energy resources through an educational approach." The project includes original archives and models from Seng, archival materials from Pang, the Museum of Gorizia, the Iuav Archive in Venice, the Bonfanti Collection, and photographs from the private collection of the Mignozzi family. Mija Lorbek, director of GO!2025, said, "The immense cultural and tourism potential of our borderless region, with its stunning nature and rich history, could not be better encapsulated in a single project. The Doblar Museum - Isonzo/Soča, Source of Energy brings together technical heritage and the extraordinary natural beauty of the Isonzo/Soča Valley, offering visitors of all ages and interests a space for discovery."
