(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 22 MAR - The Regional Minister for Infrastructure and Territory, Cristina Amirante, announced that Summer maritime connections between Trieste and coastal destinations in Slovenia and Croatia will resume on June 26. After the unsuccessful outcome of the open tender issued in December 2024, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region launched a negotiated procedure that awarded the service to Liberty Lines, which had already operated this route until 2023. The Contract, worth approximately $4.5 million over three years, will ensure international maritime connections between Trieste and Piran, Poreč, Rovinj, and Mali Lošinj. "The focus on enhancing maritime mobility," stated the minister, "is part of the regional strategy to promote an integrated and environmentally friendly transportation network. The connection, which was interrupted in 2024, is returning with a stable schedule that strengthens Trieste's tourism appeal and facilitates travel to and from the main destinations in the northern Adriatic." The service will operate from June 26 to September 1, 2025, every day except Tuesday, with departures and arrivals at Trieste's Pier IV. The scheduled routes include Trieste-Piran-Poreč-Rovinj, Trieste-Rovinj-Mali Lošinj, Trieste-Poreč-Piran-Trieste, and Trieste-Piran-Rovinj-Trieste. Each trip will accommodate over 180 seated passengers and at least 10 bicycles. (ANSA).
