(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 18 - The €1.9 billion Instrument for Reforms and Growth for Moldova has been approved by the EU Council. In addition to the other substantial aid provided by Brussels to Chișinău, this is the most extensive financial assistance package launched by the EU since the country's independence. The goal is dual: to accelerate reforms and stimulate Moldova's economy, thereby bringing the country closer to EU accession; and to assist Chișinău in addressing the obstacles that have arisen as a result of Russia's ongoing destabilisation efforts and its war of aggression against Ukraine.
