In Kosovo final results confirm victory of Kurti's party

(ANSA-AFP) - BELGRADE, FEB 20 - The electoral commission in Kosovo announced today the final results of the February 9 parliamentary elections, which were based on the counting of all 2,533 polling stations. The success of 'Vetevendosje' (Self-determination, VV, nationalist left), the party of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, was confirmed, which received 40.80% of the votes. Vetevendosje is followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK, centre-right) with 22.03%, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK, centre-right) with 17.63%, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK)-Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA)-Ideal List coalition, which received 7.46%. The largest Serb party in Kosovo, Srpska Lista (SL), which is closely linked to the Belgrade government, received 4.61%. VV won 47 seats out of 120 in the Pristina parliament, PDK 25, LDK 20, and the AAK-NISMA-Ideal List coalition 8. SL would have won all ten seats legally allocated to the Serb minority, but this is not yet certain. A further 10 seats are held by other minorities resident in the country. (ANSA-AFP).
