Erdogan inaugurates in Albania largest mosque in the Balkans

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 10 - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the inauguration of the largest mosque in the Balkans, which Turkey built in Tirana. "Our religion asks us to build mosques and maintain them as a duty," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the inauguration ceremony of the Namazgah mosque, which was broadcast live on state TV TRT and attended by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The mosque's construction, which began in 2015, was funded by Ankara via the Directorate of Religious Affairs 'Diyanet', a Turkish state institution, with an investment of approximately 30 million euros, according to the Washington Post. The Ottoman-style structure, with four 50-meter-high minarets and a 30-meter-high dome, is located near the Albanian Parliament and can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers. (ANSA).
