KEP-ITALY Workshop on Cultural Heritage 3D Surveying and Modeling successfully held in Novi Sad, Serbia

The workshop “Cultural Heritage 3D Surveying and Modeling” was organised on 26-28 March 2014 at the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) within the interdisciplinary project “GisNS - Development of Online Geodata Portal of Cultural Heritage in Novi Sad”. It aimed at countering missing digitised 3D Cultural Heritage assets within the geo-data portal of Novi Sad.

The GisNS Project is financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD contributed by the Italian Government in the framework of the Know-How Exchange Programme, an instrument co-financing projects focused on the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU CEI Member States.

The project is led by the 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation from Trento, Italy in cooperation with three local partners: the Faculty of Technical Sciences - Department of Architecture of the University of Novi Sad, the Public Enterprise for City Construction and Development and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.
 
Led by the Bruno Kessler Foundation, the workshop focused in particular on the transfer of knowledge and technology in the field of 3D surveying and modeling with special attention to the image-based and photogrammetric approach. It was made up of theoretical lectures (principle of surveying, photogrammetry and laser scanning, city mapping, landscape monitoring, energy demand assessment, etc.) and practical demonstrations with image acquisition on site and data processing in the lab.
 
25 participants with a technical and humanistic background (architecture, civil, software and mechanical engineering, computer graphics) from academia, private companies and cultural institutions took part in the gathering.
