KEP Project FIT4SMEs: Training on Financial Facilities for SMEs Held in Kiev

Representatives of 31 Business Support Organizations (BSOs) from Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine participated in the training seminar held in Kiev on 24-25 May within the framework of the project Financial Facilities for SMEs: Training and Capacity Building for Business Support Organisations in non-EU Member States of the Central European Initiative - FIT4SMEs II.

Participants had the opportunity to gain know-how about the instruments of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for supporting SMEs, such as the Business Advisory Services and the Enterprise Growth Program. The IPC - International Projekt Consult GmbH presented the Ukraine Micro Lending Programme (UMLP), whereas a representative of BC ProCredit Bank SA Moldova described how this Bank manages the funds allocated by the international financial institutions.

The event was opened by H.E. Ambassador Mykola Melenevsky, Deputy CEI National Coordinator for Ukraine as well as by representatives of the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Association of Regional Development Agencies (NARDA), the Association of Economic Development of Ivano – Frankivsk, the CEI and Informest.   The main goal of the project FIT4SMEs is to strengthen the capacities of BSOs in CEI non-EU recipient countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine. The project is co-financed by the Italian Government’s contribution to the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP) through the CEI Fund at the EBRD and by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy). Informest and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (I.C.E.) are in charge of the project implementation. The envisaged  total cost of the project amounts to  81,160 EUR and the envisaged CEI co-financing is 40,000 EUR.   Two training events were already held in Tirana (15-16 March) and Belgrade (3-4 April). Thanks to the project FIT4SMEs, more than 90 BSOs from non-EU CEI countries had the chance to enhance their knowledge about the financial facilities of IFIs operating in those countries.   For more information: www.fit4smes.net
