30.000 People Mobilised by CEI Cooperation Fund

On the occasion of the 10 years of existence of its Cooperation Fund (2001-2011), the CEI has analysed the concrete results obtained through the implementation of the Cooperation Activities, small scale projects financed out of this Fund usually taking the form of conferences, seminars, workshops and festivals.

This instrument, financed by all Member States, has served a lot to increase the overall performance in the region, thus in advancing the CEI core mission: Regional Cooperation for European Integration.

In fact since the start of its operations, the Cooperation Fund has co-financed - with an amount of about 6.5 million EUR - more than 650 Cooperation Activities for a total value of 44 million EUR. The CEI contributions (an average of 10.000 EUR) are used to facilitate the participation of representatives from all CEI countries in an activity proposed by one or more countries. Therefore, the real strategic relevance of the Cooperation Fund lies in another important number - the overall mobility generated thanks to its contributions since its inception which is of about 30.000 people!   The fields in which the Fund has operated are Intercultural Cooperation including Minorities (27,6%), followed by Human Resource Development (23,8%). Activities in Science and Technology (11,1%) and in Information Society and Media (10,8%) represent another relevant part of the Fund utilisation.   For more information: plancher@cei-es.org
