CEI Business Forum in Belgrade Revisits CEI Business Dimension

On the occasion of the CEI Summit held in Belgrade on 4 November 2011, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the Serbian Presidency, organised on the same day a Business Forum attended by representatives of Chambers of Commerce and other organisations from 12 countries, together with numerous representatives from the Serbian business community.

Several presentations were made by Milos Bugarin, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce; by Ambassador Zoran Popovic, on behalf of the CEI Serbian Presidency; by a representative of the EBRD, Mr. Dragan Tepic; by the Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia, Mrs. Zorica Maric and by the Head of the Italian Cooperation Office in Belgrade, Ms. Santa Mole.

CEI Alternate Secretary General, Mr. Giorgio Rosso Cicogna illustrated the text of a non paper on ways to revitalise the CEI Business Dimension, which was circulated as a basis for discussion beforehand together with an articulated proposal by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, which was very much along the same lines.

The informal proposal by the CEI Alternate Secretary General was endorsed by consensus by the participants: in his conclusions the President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce recommended that it should be adopted by the CEI, wishing that this Forum in Belgrade would be considered as the founding occasion for an institutionalised CEI Business Forum.
