Secretary General Dal Mas in Warsaw – strong alignment with Poland on connectivity and EU enlargement

On 13 November 2025, Secretary General Franco Dal Mas paid an official visit to Warsaw, where he met with the Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Henryka Mościcka-Dendys.

The interlocutors confirmed strong alignment between Poland and the CEI on key regional priorities: EU enlargement, support for Ukraine, and the advancement of strategic connectivity corridors across Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe.

The talks highlighted concrete opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, including the Three Seas Initiative, where Poland plays an important role; the Trieste–Ljubljana–Zagreb–Belgrade corridor, promoted by the CEI as a replicable model for deeper regional integration; and the IMEC (India–Middle East–Europe) corridor, which could find in Trieste one of its most efficient European gateways. Dal Mas underlined that improving connectivity is essential for strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and internal cohesion.

"Trieste is a natural hub for Central Europe. It connects the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and the core of the European Union. It is a strategic asset we can place at the service of the entire CEI region,” said Secretary General Dal Mas.

Poland and the CEI reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining momentum on the EU enlargement process for the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova. The Secretary General expressed appreciation for Poland’s continued engagement and its constructive role in advancing European integration during its EU presidency, January – June 2025.

During his visit, Secretary General Dal Mas also met with the Ambassador of Italy to Poland, Luca Franchetti Pardo, to exchange views on the contribution of both Poland and Italy—host country of the CEI Secretariat—to the Organisation’s strategic priorities.

The meetings were also attended by Ambassador Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni, Italy’s CEI National Coordinator, reflecting the country’s commitment to the CEI’s mission to promote regional cooperation, connectivity and European integration among its Member States.

Looking ahead to the 30th Anniversary of the CEI–Executive Secretariat in 2026, Dal Mas invited the Polish authorities to take part in the commemorative events and to explore further areas of cooperation in the months to come.
