Secretary General Franco Dal Mas, yesterday met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić.
During the gathering, Dal Mas expressed his appreciation for Serbia's continued support and for the progress made under the Serbian CEI Presidency in 2025, with particular reference to the relaunch of relations with Brussels. The main topics discussed included regional connectivity, such as the Trieste–Belgrade railway corridor, and the IMEC initiative and its potential prospects.
Particular attention was also paid to the Falcone-Borsellino project, which aims to strengthen judicial cooperation in the fight against corruption and organised crime. Dal Mas expressed confidence in the imminent launch of the project, anticipating a significant contribution to the institutional resilience of the two nations.
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić has expressed confidence that the second part of Serbia's CEI Presidency will be dedicated to the success of the projects launched, with an emphasis on deepening and strengthening good neighbourly relations, which are important for Serbia's progress towards EU accession.
In terms of future plans, Dal Mas emphasised the importance of the CEI Ministerial meeting taking place in New York on 26 September, which will provide a valuable opportunity to consolidate the results achieved and further foster regional cooperation.
During the visit, Dal Mas also met with the Italian Ambassador in Serbia, Luca Gori, the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Riccardo Guariglia, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović.
The success of our countries is the success of Europe, said Dal Mas. It is only through cooperation and the implementation of specific projects that we can ensure shared growth and stability.
