EU Parliament condemns Hungary's anti-LGBTQI law

(ANSA) - STRASBOURG, 09 LUG - The European Parliament "condemns with the utmost firmness" the recent Hungarian anti-LGBTQI law and denounces the dismantling of democracy and the rule of law in Hungary. MEPs describe the law as a clear violation of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Charter, the Treaties, and EU legislation relating to the internal market, in a resolution adopted yesterday. The text asks the Commission to start an "accelerated infringement procedure". The text passed with 459 votes in favor, 147 votes against, and 58 abstentions. (ANSA).
